History of the Himalayans In the late 30’s and early 40’s, breeders were working diligently to lay the foundation for the pointed Persian (Himalayan) by breeding or crossing the Persian with the Siamese. These first generation offspring produced color point carriers (CPC’s), solid colored Persians carrying the color point gene. In 1957, The Cat Fanciers' Association, Inc. (CFA), recognized the Himalayan for breed status. They are now classified as a pointed Persian.
